Office add-ins add features to PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and OneNote. Most come from Microsoft AppSource, Microsoft's add-in store. This guide uses Web Viewer 2.0 as the example, but the steps work for any add-in.
Install from inside Office
- Open PowerPoint, Excel, or Word.
- Click Home > Add-ins. In older versions, click Insert > Get Add-ins.
- Search for the add-in by name, such as Web Viewer 2.0.
- Click Add, review the terms, and click Continue.
Content add-ins like Web Viewer appear directly on the slide or worksheet. Other add-ins open in a side pane or add a button to the ribbon.
Install from Microsoft AppSource
- Open the add-in's AppSource page. For Web Viewer, open the Web Viewer 2.0 AppSource page.
- Click Get it now.
- Sign in with the Microsoft account you use for Office, then follow the prompts.
Install in OneNote on the web
OneNote supports add-ins in OneNote on the web only. Open your notebook in a browser, click Insert > Office Add-ins, search for the add-in, and click Add.
Find an installed add-in
Open Home > Add-ins, or Insert > Get Add-ins in older versions, then select My Add-ins. Add-ins that your organization deployed appear under Admin Managed.
Remove an add-in
In My Add-ins, open the add-in's ... menu and click Remove.
If you can't install the add-in
- Your organization may block Microsoft AppSource. An administrator can deploy the add-in through Microsoft 365 admin center.
- You may not need to install it. Colleagues can view a content add-in that is already on a shared slide. See how to view add-ins without installing them.
- Looking for Solver or the Analysis ToolPak? Those are Excel add-ins, not Office Store add-ins. Load them from File > Options > Add-ins.
