How you embed a video in PowerPoint depends on where the video is stored.
A video file on your computer
- Click Insert > Video > This Device. On Mac, click Insert > Video > Movie from File.
- Select the file and click Insert.
PowerPoint stores the video in the presentation, so it plays without an internet connection. Large videos make the file larger.
A YouTube or Vimeo video
Click Insert > Video > Online Video, paste the link, and click Insert. See the YouTube guide for Mac and web steps.
A video on Loom, Google Drive, or another site
PowerPoint's online video feature supports only a few sites. Web Viewer 2.0 plays videos from many more, including Loom, Google Drive, Dailymotion, TED, Twitch, and Streamable.
- Loom: copy the video's share link.
- Google Drive: set sharing to Anyone with the link, then copy the link.
-
Other sites: copy the video page's address. If the site gives you embed
code, copy the address inside
src="...".
Then load the link:
- Insert Web Viewer 2.0 on the slide. New to add-ins? Follow how to install an Office add-in.
- Sign in when Web Viewer asks.
- Click www at the top left of the viewer.
- Paste the video link into URL, then click Load.
Most video sites don't allow their pages inside other apps, so Web Viewer offers the site's embeddable player. Click Load to use it.
