You can add a YouTube video to PowerPoint in two ways. PowerPoint's built-in online video feature works for most presentations. Web Viewer 2.0 also plays YouTube links, including in Excel and OneNote on the web.
Method 1: PowerPoint's online video feature
- Open the video on YouTube and copy its address from your browser's address bar.
- In PowerPoint, select the slide.
- Click Insert > Video > Online Video. On Mac, click Insert > Video > Online Movie. In PowerPoint for the web, click Insert > Online Video.
- Paste the address and click Insert.
The video streams from YouTube during Slide Show, so you need an internet connection. PowerPoint's Fade, Bookmark, and Trim options don't apply to online videos.
Method 2: Web Viewer
- Insert Web Viewer 2.0 on the slide. New to add-ins? Follow how to install an Office add-in.
- Sign in when Web Viewer asks.
- Click www at the top left of the viewer.
- Paste the YouTube link into URL, then click Load.
YouTube doesn't allow its video pages inside other apps, so Web Viewer offers YouTube's
embedded player. Click Load to use it. Video links,
youtu.be short links, playlists, and live streams all work.
For youtube.com/watch and youtu.be links, Web Viewer keeps a
start time written as whole seconds, such as t=90. Before loading a link with
t=90s or t=1m30s, change that part to t=90 so the
video starts at 90 seconds.
Use this method to show a YouTube video in Excel or OneNote, or to show a playlist.
FAQ

Can I embed videos from other sites?
PowerPoint's online video feature supports a short list of sites, including YouTube and Vimeo. See how to embed a video from any site.
