How to Add an Interactive 3D Model to PowerPoint

A 3D box

PowerPoint can insert 3D model files. Use Web Viewer 2.0 when the model is published online, such as on Sketchfab, and you want its full interactive viewer on the slide.

Insert a 3D model file

  1. Click Insert > 3D Models.
  2. Choose a model file from your device, or pick one from Microsoft's online library.
  3. Drag the rotation control in the middle of the model to turn it.

PowerPoint supports common formats such as .fbx, .obj, .3mf, .ply, .stl, and .glb. To animate a rotation, rotate a copy of the model on the next slide and apply the Morph transition.

Present a Sketchfab model or Matterport tour

  1. Open the Sketchfab model or Matterport tour and copy its address.
  2. Insert Web Viewer 2.0 on the slide, click www, paste the address, and click Load.
  3. If the site doesn't allow its pages inside other apps, Web Viewer offers the site's own player. Click Load to use it.

During Slide Show, you can orbit, zoom, and walk through the model with the site's controls.
