Your browser reads the selected KML or KMZ file directly from SharePoint and renders its map features locally. When you create an export, your browser downloads it to your device or saves it directly to SharePoint. The source file and generated export do not pass through or remain on our servers.

What data do map and image providers receive?

Your browser requests map tiles directly from OpenStreetMap or Esri, depending on the background you select. Each provider receives standard web-request data, including your IP address, browser information, and the requested tile paths. The tile paths identify the map area and zoom level shown in your browser.

If a KML or KMZ file references a remote icon or image, your browser requests that resource directly from its host. The host receives the same standard request data and the requested resource path. These providers do not receive the full KML or KMZ file from the add-in.
